The Saga
2011
This year’s initiative is the show “Wedding of a Bandit”, where the group focuses on the struggle between good and evil inspired by the beautiful frescos of the many churches in Northern Jutland.
Additionally, Dunkelfolket is performing in the European carnival parades in e.g. Venice, Bremen, Hamburg and Aalborg. The group has also been invited to Greeland do participate in the event “Aalborg in Nuuk”.
2010
A European corporation has been initiated under the topic of ”Mobile Street Art”, where street theatres in Aalborg, Hamburg, London and Paris work together and exchange experiences, performances and artists to raise the quality of street art.
Dunkelfolket has developed its new Dunkel Fugle (Shadow Birds) and Dunkel Dyr (Shadow Animals) on stilts along with new tableaus. These create amazing sights in the streets, and opens new possibilities for performances in Bremen, Hamburg and different Danish cities. As the only Danish theatre group, Dunkelfolket was invited to the North European Amateur Theatre Festival in Akureyri in Iceland in August 2010.
2009
The year of Dunkelfolket’s 20th anniversary begins with the production of “Wedding of a Bandit” and a new street performance and ends with a spectacular event in our hometown Aalborg.

2007
Dunkelfolket performs “Hamlet – without words” at the castle, Kronborg in August. Furthermore the group performs in parades in Paris and receives a 4th place in the Tropical Carnival in Paris.
2006
In 2006, Dunkelfolket produced the show “Hamlet” with the support from the municipality of Aalborg, the County of Northern Jutland, the Danish Ministry of Culture and DATS. The show was instructed by Larry Hunt from New York, and premiered in the Northern Jutland Museum of Art on November 18th 2006.
2004-2005
Dunkelfolket performs the tale “The Story of a Mother”, by the famous H.C. Andersen, as the first show based on an actual story.
2003
The Odintheatre – the orginal source of the inspiration for Dunkelfolket, implement a workshop for the group leading to much inspiration and development.
2002-2003
The Nordic Festival of Culture in Arendal, Norway: for two years in a row, Dunkelfolket has worked as mascots for the festival. In 2002, the residents of Arendal founded a fan club for the Danish theatre group - the number of members rose additionally after the last visit.
2001
Middleage Festival in Horsens,
Denmark: Dunkelfolket was the first to receive the Northern Jutland Culture Award of 100.000 DKK.
1989-2001
Dunkelfolket has participated in the largest carnival of Northern Italy in Viareggio 10 times.
2000
Dunkelfolket took part in the celebration of the Chinese New Year in Chingay, Singapore

Dunkelfolket participated in the 750th anniversary of Akershus in Olso, Norway
